Komodo took UK fashion brand MissPap to Phuket in January this year, to launch Amber Rose Gill’s (Love Island’s 2019 winner) new edit with the Manchester based brand. Amber was joined by fellow islanders Kaz Crossley, Harley Brash, Francesca Allen and Anna Valiki on the trip. Myself and Andy Ryan represented Komodo, and Louis Agace and Sophie Barnes were the creatives behind the lens. Lauren Smith from Misspap also joined us on this exciting activation.
We headed down to Kata Beach one magical evening and were hosted by an amazing venue, The Boathouse. We arrived for sunset and were directed towards the rooftop terrace where we were greeted with smiles, bubbles, and caviar – all delicious. We all cheers’d and toasted the launch of Amber’s line whilst the sun set into a fiery orange backdrop for us, an absolutely unforgettable moment. The food was sublime; a three course set menu paired with delicious wines chosen by their in-house sommelier. We ended a perfect evening with a local blatantly over charging us for Chinese lanterns, but we weren’t complaining – nothing could ruin our night.
Hidden away in the tourist hotspot of Patong, Villa Enjoy sits above it all, looking down onto the chaos and beauty of the area that attracts party goers from every corner of the globe. This boutique five-bedroom, seven-bathroom sensation was our home for the trip, an architectural masterpiece. Four floors of impressive design, including a rooftop chilled plunge pool, and the underground gym, which did not see much action due to the dangerously close night life of Bangla Road. The in-house staff met every requirement of ours and never failed to produce the most beautiful spreads of local delicacies, and of course some delicious home comforts.
If you are in Phuket and don’t fancy a quiet night in then head to Patong and straight to Bangla Road. If you haven’t been to Patong’s Bangla Road, you haven’t been to Phuket. Shopping, hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, street food, Thai Boxing, scuba centres, tour packages, touts, ‘Ladyboys’, seafood, it’s all on this road. It’s definitely not the best place if you are looking for value, but if it’s your first visit to Phuket and you want to laze around the beach all day, shop and hangout at the bars while figuring out what Phuket’s got to offer in terms of tours and activities, Bangla’s the place to be. Endless buckets of cheap alcohol filled one big night at Sugar Club for Kaz’s birthday. The bottles flowed and the night certainly did not disappoint. The last people standing ended up in the infamous Illuzion, a psychedelic, colour-filled club with special effects. In my opinion, it’s up there with the greatest clubs ever.
Where do we start other than Circo Loco. We were lucky enough to be in Phuket when this world famous, Ibiza-born party made its debut into Asian territory. The line-up was so impressive it was almost a joke. Peggy Gou, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler, plus many more. The setting was insane, mixed within the Palm trees of Baba Beach, with an impressive light show and a sound system to cause earthquakes. If you aren’t a fan of techno, house and DC-10 then maybe this is not the perfect event for you to attend. But this was one we’d never forget, throwing some questionable shapes and dancing into the early hours of the morning. The outrageous line up and great company made us keen to come back to Phuket next January. It was most definitely worth the sore heads in the morning. What a night!
